Ultra raises $62M for warehouse robots-as-a-service — with Physical Intelligence as the brain
Brooklyn's Ultra closed a $50M Series A (Framework Ventures) plus earlier seed for $62M total, leasing OP1 packers while Physical Intelligence supplies the AI.
In short: Ultra raised $62 million across a $50M Series A led by Framework Ventures (Y Combinator participated) and a prior $12M seed. Customers pay an integration fee plus monthly support; Ultra says its robots have packed 500,000+ orders.
The model
- Hardware: stationary dual-arm Operator (OP1) for packing, sorting and kitting — on locking casters, ~5×5 ft footprint, up to 10 lb per arm, standard 120 V power.
- Deployments: New York, Georgia, New Jersey and Texas (per Ultra).
- Brains: Physical Intelligence supplies the models. Ultra reported a full shift at 96.4% autonomy on π0.6, with humans stepping in when needed and feeding training data.
Why it matters
Humanoids get the headlines; Ultra is shipping non-walking arms that already touch real SKUs. The split — Ultra builds and services the body, PI trains the VLA — is a template for how warehouse automation may scale before bipedal robots do.
