DeepSurgery raises nearly RMB 100 million Series B for FUNZAR, its third round in 15 months
Guangzhou DeepSurgery closed a Series B of nearly RMB 100 million co-led by Mifang Capital and Shengshi Investment. Its FUNZAR microsurgical robot has 16 degrees of freedom, entered China's innovative-device green channel in 2026, and is running registration trials at six hospitals.
Mifang Capital and Shengshi Investment co-led a Series B of nearly RMB 100 million for Guangzhou DeepSurgery's FUNZAR microsurgical robot, according to VCBeat, which first reported the round on Oct 19. Chenhui Ventures, Chengshu Investment, Dongguan Science & Technology Innovation Investment Group and existing shareholder Wondfo Innovation Valley joined; Qiangyun Capital remained exclusive financial adviser. It is DeepSurgery's third round in 15 months, and the company says the money goes to multi-indication clinical trials, product registration and overseas expansion.
The money buys DeepSurgery a place in a registration race rather than a technology race. No Chinese microsurgical robot has been approved for market in China, while Italy's MMI Symani has held FDA authorization since 2024 and, according to Chengshu Investment partner Gu Guan, has logged 3,500 commercial surgical cases overseas. Mifang managing director Su Zhonghe puts FUNZAR's clinical-trial record at over 100 cases, so Symani's count is up to 35 times FUNZAR's. The company says FUNZAR's dual arms have 16 degrees of freedom, sub-micron positioning error and 13x to 130x motion scaling.
On technology the domestic gap may be smaller: the company reports two world-first procedures in 2026, a moyamoya bypass at the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University in March and a spermatic-vein reconstruction in July, and the VCBeat report says Chinese and foreign products are close to the same generation. Registration trials run at six hospitals, among them Beijing Jishuitan, Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital and Xiangya; enrollment for the first indication is nearly complete.
