GenRobot raises $100 million as humanoid maker Galbot, SAIC and Baidu buy into its robot training data
Chinese robot-data company GenRobot closed a $100 million Series A+ in the third quarter, with SAIC, Baidu and humanoid maker Galbot among the backers. Its investors look like its customers, a bet that robot makers will buy training data rather than collect it themselves.
GenRobot, a Chinese company that turns recordings of people at work into training data for robots, has closed a $100 million Series A+, it said on Nov. 2 Beijing time. The round closed in the third quarter. The industrial investors are SAIC Motor, Malaysia's Eastworlds, Baidu, Shouchen Holdings and humanoid maker Galbot; six financial investors, among them CITIC Goldstone Investment and CCB International, joined them.
That list reads like a customer list. Galbot builds humanoids, SAIC builds cars, and Momenta led GenRobot's Series A in August. They are paying for a shared supplier, a bet that robot makers will buy imitation-learning data the way they buy parts instead of each building its own capture rigs. CEO Chen Jianxing worked at XPeng and Momenta, where he helped lead the data-flywheel route to mass production, DoNews reported; GenRobot is bringing that playbook to embodied AI.
Its Gen DAS wearables record what the wearer sees and how their hands and body move. The Gen Matrix platform syncs, cleans and labels the video, motion and tactile streams, and Gen ADP is its data production line. The company says it works with more than 30 AI companies in China and abroad. Founded in May 2025, it has also raised from Ant Group, Didi and RoboSense.
Galbot's stake is also the hard part of the pitch: a data vendor partly owned by one humanoid maker now has to persuade the other 30-plus customers that what they record stays theirs.
