GXO adds two Digit sites after more than 100,000 totes at one warehouse
GXO Logistics expects to deploy Agility Robotics' Digit at sites in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee, starting in early 2027 on Digit 4. At its Flowery Branch, Georgia site, Digit has moved more than 100,000 totes since a 2024 Robots-as-a-Service agreement.
GXO Logistics and Agility Robotics said on Oct 26 that Agility's Digit humanoid robot will be deployed at GXO sites in Statesville, North Carolina, and Lebanon, Tennessee.
The expansion is counted in sites: after about two years at one Georgia warehouse, GXO is adding two more. With no robot count, contract value or payment terms, the two sites are the only measure of the new deal's size. Deployments are expected to begin in early 2027 on Digit 4, with a later move to Digit 5 once it is commercially available.
At Statesville and Lebanon, the companies say Digit will support e-commerce fulfillment and take on highly repetitive material-handling tasks. Digit 5, unveiled on Sept 15, 2026, is designed for cooperatively safe work in close proximity to people.
The relationship began with a proof-of-concept pilot in late 2023 at GXO's Flowery Branch, Georgia site. In June 2024 the companies signed a multi-year Robots-as-a-Service agreement covering Digit robots and Agility Arc, Agility's cloud platform for managing robot fleets. They call it the industry's first formal commercial deployment of humanoid robots in live operations and the first RaaS agreement for humanoid robots. At Flowery Branch, Digit works alongside existing automation, moving totes and placing them onto conveyors; since the 2024 agreement it has moved more than 100,000 totes there.
Agility's own numbers are larger than the site list. It says Digit has more than 65,000 hours of real-world operation across its commercial work and customer programs. Its RoboFab factory in Salem, Oregon, is 70,000 square feet and designed for annual production capacity of up to 10,000 robots. GXO, which describes itself as the world's largest pure-play contract logistics provider, operates more than 1,000 facilities.
Peggy Johnson, Agility's CEO, said GXO was the first customer to put Digit to work in live operations under a commercial agreement. She said customers are moving beyond asking whether humanoid robots can work to deciding where they can scale them. Patrick Kelleher, GXO's CEO, said the expansion reflects confidence in the technology's ability to create measurable value for customers and a better working environment for teams.
Agility is going public through a business combination with Churchill Capital Corp XI (Nasdaq: CCXI), expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which it is expected to trade on Nasdaq as AGLT.
The next checkable point is early 2027, when Digit 4 is due to start at Statesville and Lebanon, and the later switch to Digit 5 once it is commercially available.
