RobCo hits a $1B+ valuation in a $40M share sale
The Munich-founded industrial robotics startup doubled its valuation since January in a deal mostly made of employee share sales, backed by Sequoia, Lightspeed and others, as it expands in the U.S.
In short: RobCo is now valued at more than $1 billion, double its January value. Most of the $40 million round bought shares from current and former employees.
What RobCo sells
- More than a dozen modular robots, mostly industrial arms; the largest, XL, lifts 88 lb.
- Flagship Alfie, a two-armed mobile robot, for example holding a part with one arm and painting with the other.
- Software: RobVision trains a custom model from one uploaded photo using synthetic variations; RobFlow is no-code workflow building; RobCo Studio handles configuration and maintenance.
U.S. push
CEO Roman Hölzl moved to San Francisco. RobCo has a manufacturing site in Austin and customers in about a dozen states.
Why it matters
A large secondary sale means investors want in and employees get liquidity: a sign of maturity for European robotics. RobCo's angle is making robots usable by mid-size manufacturers without robot programmers.
