Unitree's upgraded G1+ humanoid goes on pre-order in Japan
GMO AIR began Japanese pre-orders for the G1+ on Oct 13: a neck, stronger motors, 3D LiDAR and voice interaction. Founder Wang Xingxing now sees an embodied-AI tipping point in 1–2 years.
In short: Japan's GMO AI & Robotics (GMO AIR), Unitree's official Japanese distributor since June 19, 2026, began handling and taking pre-orders for the Unitree G1+ and G1+ EDU on Oct 13. Pricing and delivery are quoted case by case.
What changes vs the G1
- Two new neck degrees of freedom (body DOF 23 → 25).
- Shoulder and waist motor peak torque 2.1x, arm motors 1.4x, with ~30% less heat at the same force.
- Max arm payload ~2 kg → ~3 kg (4 kg on G1+ EDU).
- Head stereo cameras, chest wide-angle camera and 3D LiDAR; 6-mic array with sound-direction estimation, dual 10 W speakers, head touch sensor.
- Swappable battery (~2 h) plus external power.
- GMO AIR targets reception, guidance, education and exhibitions, in addition to R&D.
Unitree's outlook
Speaking at the China International Industry Fair in Shanghai on Oct 12, founder Wang Xingxing said Unitree had tested GPT-6 on many robots with "very, very good" results (no measurements published) and that embodied AI's tipping point could come "in one or two years" — shorter than the "two to three years at the fastest" he gave in August.
Why it matters
The G1 is already one of the best-selling humanoid robots in research and education. The G1+ pushes it toward people-facing service jobs, the scenario Wang expects to scale first.
